Game code based on an ECS architecture pattern can avoid the drawbacks of object-oriented programming with GameObjects. Development teams can maximize the use of the target platform hardware resources, at the memory and CPU level, with a maximized use of Burst and Jobs.

ECS for Unity is made burst-compatible to provide the best performance of our C# code. This includes improvements to the job system (faster job scheduler, better job debugger performance) and minimizes performance overhead that accelerates iteration time while writing entity gameplay code.

Check out our GDC presentation with Electric Square to learn about the use of ECS for deterministic gameplay for QA and design loops, as well as streaming for Detonation Racing, a high-pace Apple Arcade racing game.
