Application SpaceWarp is an advanced XR rendering technique that reduces the rendering frequency while maintaining the display’s refresh rate. This is now also available directly available in URP with Unity 6. Before you had to use a specific partner-branch to unlock this feature.

The technique works by rendering the scene at half the rate of the XR display refresh rate. For example, if you want to reach 72 FPS, your app needs to run only on 36 FPS, while the XR compositor is interpolating the missing frames.

To fill in the gaps between frames, motion vectors are generated and used to synthesize the missing frames, creating smooth motion even at the reduced rendering frequency.
