Summary

Hierarchical Level Of Details Generation (HLOD) is a feature that allows you to combine existing static meshes and materials into a single HLOD mesh. This feature helps optimize memory usage and increase performance.

Intended Outcome/Use Case

Hierarchical LODs generation will allow you to create hierarchical aggregations of GameObjects. When far from the camera, the meshes and materials will be combined to create a simplified perceptual correct mesh. When not visible from the camera, irrelevant details will not be displayed. The HLOD feature when used will result in less draw calls since less meshes need to be rendered, which will increase your scene performances.
