Summary

The number of competing super resolution techniques is growing, and many of them are specific to a single hardware vendor. Along with this, these solutions are not designed for mobile.

STP - Spatial Temporal Post Processing, is Unity’s super resolution solution which will be aimed to work on all devices, from mobile to console, and deliver high quality results in both HDRP & URP while keeping overhead low.

Intended Outcome / Use Case

STP is a spatio-temporal anti-aliasing upscaling solution that should work on any device that supports shader model 5.0. It is designed from the start with mobile in mind, and intended to deliver visual quality that's comparable to DLSS2, FSR2, XeSS, with a lower performance cost.

Both HDRP & URP users should be able to leverage it, giving a consistent upscaling experience regardless of which render pipeline you’re using.

We aim to support PC, Console and high-end compute enabled mobile (non GLES devices).
